No extension to Game Licences for 2022.
Field & Game Australia’s CEO Dean O’Hara yesterday stated that FGA is very disappointed on behalf of our members to be informed by the Ministers department, that on this occasion the Minister for Agriculture and Minister for Regional Development has denied Victorian Game Licence holders an extension to their current GL.
FGA has advocated heavily since the severely reduced 2021 duck hunting season was announced and subsequently cut short, particularly for our Metro Melbourne members who were in lockdown due to the Covid pandemic for the second year running.
Minimal hunting occurred for our regional members and yet there’s no subsidy or extension forthcoming.
An extension was graciously offered the previous year, setting a precedence and we reasonably expect that a further extension should be a fair and reasonable request.
From a member’s perspective, this decision is a kick in the pants and yet another blow to hunters who continue to contribute through conservation projects with Field & Game Australia/WET and unfortunately seem to be treated with disregard.
